Hi, I’m Laura Piatt.

I have been an Edmond resident since 1982. My husband and I have been married for 30
years, and I am the proud mother of three boys culminating in 26 years of parenting experience. I
hold a bachelor’s degree in marketing from Oklahoma State University. After 26 years in the
business world, I returned to school to pursue a Masters of Professional Counseling at Liberty
University in Lynchburg, Virginia and graduated in August 2018. I completed my candidacy
hours at New Path Christian Counseling, Logan Community Services, and Grand Lake Mental
Health Center.

My Approach

Relationships can hurt but they can also heal. My goal in therapy is to create a safe, non-
judgmental relationship to help heal a person’s hurt. God made us relational beings and through
healthy relationships He gives healing power. My experience in the community health center
setting has provided me insight on how to help children, parents, adolescents, young adults and
the elderly. I believe that our thoughts, beliefs, and feelings are intertwined and affect our
behaviors. It is my calling to help strengthen individuals and families by presenting Biblical
truths to help them grow closer to God and by assisting them in learning new skills to lead lives
that are hope filled and purposeful. I don’t simply treat symptoms; I work to address the root
cause of the mental health concern. My treatment plans are carefully constructed to fit the
specific needs of each of my clients.
